Curbside Pick-Up at GPLD

NEW!  We are able to offer curbside copy/fax/scan service to our patrons.  Please email the documents you need taken care of to [support@genoalibrary.org] with a contact name and phone number.  We will contact you after we process your request and schedule a curbside pick-up (if necessary).

The health and safety of our staff and patrons is our top priority.  To that end, we will be transitioning back to curbside pick-ups for holds during all of our open hours beginning Saturday, November 21, 2020.

Please continue to return your items to the dropbox located on the Emmett Street side of the library.

To place an item on hold for a curbside pick-up please contact the library in the following ways:

  • You may call the library at (815) 784-2627 to place a hold during open hours.  If you call when we are closed, please leave a message with your name, phone number, library card number, and the title and author of the items that you wish to put on hold, or if you would like a staff member to call you back to assist you in determining which items to place on hold.
  • You may place a hold directly through Encore, the library’s online catalog.  When you request an item, please be sure to note that you would like to pick it up from Genoa.
  • NEW!  Request items through the new PrairieCat app!  Download it for your iOS or Android device today!

Once your items are available for pick-up, you will receive a phone call to schedule your pick-up time.  Pick-up times will be scheduled in 10 minute increments to allow for physical distancing.  Materials on hold will be checked out to your account as soon as they are processed for pickup.  For families with multiple cards, you may pick up all of your holds at one scheduled pick-up time.

Items ready for pick-up will be bagged and placed on the table in the library foyer.

Returned items will be quarantined for three days after being returned to limit the spread of COVID-19.  During this quarantine period they will remain checked out to your account, and will only be processed after the quarantine period has passed.  Please take this into consideration when managing the items on your account and check your return receipt carefully for the due date and return materials at least 3 days prior.

Late fines have been suspended at this time.  Materials will not accrue late fines, and late fines currently on your account will not be collected.  Fees for lost or missing materials will still accrue, and must be paid before more materials can be placed on hold.  If you have fees or fines, you must pay them online. Simply log into your account online, click on “Fines”, and click on the “Pay Online” button.

When using curbside pick-up, please respect social distancing protocol and library instructions.
