Board of Trustees Vacancies

The Library Board is comprised of seven individuals who are registered to vote and reside within the boundaries of the Library District.  There are currently two vacant Board seats which will be filled by appointment from current Trustees.  These appointed terms will be in place until new members have been seated in May 2023 following the April 2023 election.  Current Board members will be eligible to seek elected office at that time.  Library Trustee positions are unpaid.

Regular meetings of the Board of Trustees take place on the third Monday of each month either in the library Program Room or in the Event Room beginning at 7 pm.  These meetings frequently take about an hour and rarely are more than two hours in length.  From time to time, as the business of the library dictates, additional meetings are required either or the full Board or of individual committees.

Every appointed trustee is expected to complete an orientation session with the Library Director which will be scheduled at the Trustee’s convenience.  In addition, the State of Illinois requires that every member of a public body complete an online training on the Open Meetings Act within 90 days of being sworn in.  This training can be completed at your leisure.  The completion certificate is then submitted by the Trustee to the Library Director and filed at the library.

Trustee applications can be accessed here.  They can be printed out and returned to the Library Director.
