This is a comprehensive list of all of our Summer Reading Events with registration available below each event. All event are subject to change. Registration will begin on Tuesday, May 31st.

Summer Reading Kick-Off with Basics (Monday, June 13th time 10 am - 12 pm)

Help us kick-off Summer Reading by heading over to Chamberlain Park at the NEW toddler gardens to paint pavers to be used in the toddler garden.

Summer Reading Cabin Ribbon Cutting (Monday, June 13th time @ 2 pm)

You've donated supplies and have watched us build our cabin, now be there for the ribbon cutting and celebration!

Terry Lynch: Lewis & Clark

(Wednesday, June 15th @ 2 pm in Library Event Room)

Open to all ages

Come meet Meriwether Lewis, member of the Corps of Discovery Expedition, as he explains how our country expanded west from the Mississippi River.

Storytime with Miss Alyssa

(Thursday's from June 16th -July 21st @ 10:30 am)

Open to ages 0-11

Join Miss Alyssa at Chamberlain Park under the pavilion by the Toddler Garden and outside the Genoa Pool. We’ll sing songs, read stories, and play outside. On Thursday, June 23rd a very special guest who has really long hair and grew up in a tower will be joining us!

Come to the Genoa Public Library’s Event Room for an Open Craft. Each week we’ll be doing a different craft.

7/25- Beaded Animal Keychain

Stranger Things Escape Room

(Tuesday, June 21st from 6-8 pm and Wednesday, July 22nd from 2 – 5 pm)

Open to all ages

Can you escape the Upside Down?!

Sign-up with a group of 5 to see if you can successfully escape the Upside Down.

Thee will be eight 30-minute time slots with a maximum of 5 per group. There is NO online registration for this event. Please call, 815-784-2627, or come in the Library to register your group!

Camper Painting with Bleu Palette

(Saturday, June 25th @ 11:30 am)

Open to ages 14+

Max of 15 people

Cost $15 payable at time of registration

Join Jenny from Bleu Palette Art Studio to paint this fun camping scene at the Genoa Library!  Try something new and paint on a black canvas!  Tracer provided for the camper.  No previous art skills needed!  This event takes place at the Genoa Public Library, and you must be a patron of the Genoa Library to attend.  A portion of the $35 ticket cost will be covered by the library.

Dan Gogh’s Magical Camp Adventure! (Wednesday, June 29th @ 2 pm)

Open to ages 6-12

Max 15 people

The Drawing adventure awaits you at Camp Cartoon! Learn how to draw basic shapes and transform them into your own cartoons. Soon you’ll be drawing animals, nature, and any kind of camp accessory that you may need on your next expedition!

Super Smash Bros Tournament

(Wednesday, July 6th @ 2 pm)

Open to ages 8-17

Max of 12 people

Get your game face on! Two people will be going head to head in a bracket system to see who wins the Super Smash Bros Tournament! Haven’t played before? That’s okay first timers are more than welcome!

Pool Party at Genoa Pool

(Tuesday, July 12th @ 6pm)

Open to all ages

From building nests to using tools, learn about how intelligent our feathered friends truly are. PPT with animal ambassadors.

Slime & Chemistry with Discovery Center (Wednesday, July 13th @ 2 pm)

Open to ages 5-13

Max of 30 people

Measure, pour, and mix real chemicals to produce reactions, investigate solids, liquids, and gases, and concoct slime!

Felted Flamingo's with Natasha from Esther’s Place

(Thursday, July 14th @ 6 pm)

Open to ages 16+

Max of 12 people

Natasha from Esther’s Place will be joining us via Zoom to show us how to make Needle Felted Flamingo's!

Friendship Bracelets

(Wednesday, July 20th @ 2 pm)

Open to ages 9-17

Bring your pal or just yourself to the Genoa Public Library to learn how to make Friendship Bracelets! All materials will be provided.
