SUMMER READING PROGRAM
Our summer reading theme this year is "Books Arrrr Great."
Reading Requirements--Summer Reading 2010
The period of time for reading the specified number of hours or books runs from Sunday, June 20th through Saturday, July 31st.
READING REQUIREMENTS:
PRE-READERS--Toddlers and children who are not yet independent readers can be read to by a parent, sibling or caregiver. A total of 10 hours is expected during the six-week period.
READERS--Children (through 8th grade) who are independent readers are expected to read a total of 12 hours.
HIGH SCHOOL--Those who will be in high school for the coming school year (2010-2011) have two options. They may read for a total of 16 hours, OR they may elect the adult reading option, described below.
ADULTS--A participant in the adult program is expected to read four different books. The genre of the books is NOT specified. Any four books read during the six weeks will qualify. A brief written summary for each book should be written in the reader's log book.
This year, for those in the "pre-reader" and "reader" category, attendance at two of our weekly activities will be necessary to qualify for "grand prizes."

Through a partnership with AT Cyber Systems of Genoa, patrons who have wireless-enabled laptop computers may now use them within the library.

TO OBTAIN A Library Card
If you are planning to get a library card or need something right away, take a few minutes to call the library before you leave home. Our number is 815-784-2627.
State law requires that you get your card from your home library. This is the library that receives your tax dollars. In most cases, the card is good at other libraries, too. If you live within our library district (which is the city limits of Genoa, not surrounding areas), you pay for library service through your property taxes and you will get a card at no extra charge. If you are outside of the city limits, you will need to bring in your tax bill or a current rent receipt so we can calculate your fee based on the same criteria that our residents are taxed.
We welcome you to our library!
